Paragraph 1: Prizes

The board of the Dutch Aerospace Fund (NLF) annually awards the following prizes with associated money prizes to students from MBO, HBO and university programmes:

  • Parmentier Prize: for students of an Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) study, certificate and/or sum of money to be determined per edition

  • Smart Mobility Prize: certificate and/or sum of money to be determined per edition

  • Sustainable Aviation Prize: made available by KLM, €2,500

  • Anthony Fokker Prize: made available by Fokker, €2,500

  • Noordwijk Aerospace Prize: made available by the municipality of Noordwijk, €2,500

  • André Kuipers Aerospace Prize: made available by the André Kuipers Foundation, €2,500

Judging of entries for the said prizes is done by a professional jury. The board determines the winners of the prizes and a possible tribute.

The prizes are awarded if there are enough suitable entries in a year. This is decided by the jury and the board.

Paragraph 2: Appointment, indemnification, independence and dismissal of the jury

The chairman of the jury of the NLF is appointed by the board. The board mandates the jury chairman to appoint jury members on its behalf. The chairman of the jury then determines the composition of the jury and communicates this to the board.

Jurors are not liable for damages due to shortcomings while performing their jury duties, unless there is intent or gross negligence.

The jury judges independently and neutrally and advises the board on the award of the Dutch Aerospace Awards to nominated candidates. The chairman of the jury can relieve jury members of their duties and jury members can also request this themselves.

Paragraph 3: Composition of the jury

The jury includes prominent members from the Dutch aviation and/or aerospace sector and beyond. The number of jury members is at least five. The jury may ask experts for advice where necessary.

Paragraph 4: Judging criteria

The jury assesses entries based on two evaluation criteria, namely: excellence and impact. Both criteria have several sub-criteria that have a supporting function to reach a well-founded judgement. More on this is included on the 'Criteria' page.

Entries can score five points for each main criterion. To win, an entry must score more than seven points for both criteria combined.

Paragraph 5: Nominations

The jury will nominate three to a maximum of five entries per category.

Paragraph 6: Proposed winner

The jury evaluates the nominations and proposes the winner for each category to the board. The board decides on the winner proposed by the jury.

Paragraph 7: Quality of entries

The jury may decide that no single nomination has sufficient quality to win the award. It is also possible that the jury finds several nominations similar in quality and therefore makes them all eligible for the prize. In that case, the prize is shared. The jury justifies its assessments to the board via a jury report.

Paragraph 8: Responsibility of the board

The board of the NLF is responsible for the awarding of prizes.

Paragraph 9: Drafting, adoption and amendment

These regulations have been drawn up and adopted by the NLF board. The board may amend these regulations at any time.
